Questions sellers should ask themselves

If you are trying to decide whether to sell first or buy first, I think there are a few important questions to ask.

How comfortable are you carrying two homes at once if you need to?

If your current home took longer to sell than expected, would that create stress financially or emotionally?

Do you need the equity from your current home in order to buy the next one?

Would temporary housing feel manageable, or would that make the process harder for you?

Do you have flexibility with timing, or do you need everything to line up very closely?

These are the kinds of questions that usually bring the right answer into focus.

Sometimes the right decision is obvious once you talk through the numbers. Other times, it becomes clear when you think about your tolerance for uncertainty.
